Crit System

How Crit Rate, Crit Factor, and Crit Resistance work in JoJo: Golden Spirit, and why the World Boss never resists your crits.
Three stats decide a crit:
Crit Rate (the chance a hit crits),
Crit Boost (how much harder a crit lands), and the target’s Crit Resistance.
The three stats
Crit Rate — the chance any given hit crits. It climbs through gear, the Agility class passive when a character isn’t the enemy’s current target, and per-character skill buffs. A roster with barely any crit gear might sit around 20% crit rate; a fully built character pushing crit gear and skills can realistically reach 50% or more.
Crit Boost — every hit’s base crit multiplier is ×2.0. Crit Boost adds on top of that: the first 3,000 points add crit damage at a slower rate, further points add it faster, up to a hard cap of +90% crit damage — a ×2.9 crit multiplier at the ceiling.- Crit Resistance — lives on the target, not the attacker. It cuts into your effective crit rate before the dice roll, so a high-Crit-Resistance target eats your crits unless you shred that resistance first.
The World Boss never resists your crits
The World Boss’s Crit Resistance sits at zero, at every difficulty — Wamuu pictured above is one of the seven. It never cuts into your crit chance no matter how far you push the fight. A large number sometimes seen next to the boss is its Attack stat, not a resistance value at all — there’s no resistance wall to shred on the World Boss, so Crit Rate and Crit Boost both keep paying off cleanly the whole way through.
Crit Rate vs. Crit Boost
Crit Rate decides how often a hit crits; Crit Boost decides how hard those crits land. Stacking only one of them wastes the other — more Crit Boost means nothing if your crits rarely trigger, and more Crit Rate plateaus in value once you’re already critting on most hits. Push both together, and only bother shredding a target’s Crit Resistance when the fight actually has one worth shredding.
Practical build advice
- Against the World Boss, Crit Rate and Crit Boost keep paying off at every difficulty — its Crit Resistance is zero throughout, so there’s no wall to break through.
- Crit Resistance shred does nothing against the World Boss specifically; save that debuff for targets that actually carry Crit Resistance.
- Crit Boost only pays off once Crit Rate is high enough that crits land regularly — build both, not one at the expense of the other.
