Spirit Realm

Spirit Realm

How Spirit Realm works in JoJo: Golden Spirit — the hex board, spirit promotion tiers, holes, and the Realm Bonus set effect.

Spirit Realm is a per-character power layer that opens at Account Lv.13. Each character has their own hex-shaped board that unlocks in stages as that character levels, and you place up to three spirit powers onto it. Promoting a spirit grows the space it takes up on the board, and the qualities of the spirits you’ve equipped earn that character a Realm Bonus on top.

Try every board size for yourself in the Spirit Realm simulator.

The board

Each character’s board has 18 hex cells total, but how many are open depends on that character’s own level: 9 cells at Lv.45 (where Spirit Realm switches on for them), 12 at Lv.50, 15 at Lv.60, and the full 18 at Lv.80. You can place up to three spirit powers at once, and each one takes up a cluster of cells that grows as you promote it.

Spirit promotion tiers

Promoting a spirit grows its footprint on the board — extra base slots first, then holes (random-stat sockets), and finally an enhance slot at the top tier:

Tier Base slots Holes Enhance
1 1 0 0
2 2 0 0
3 2 1 0
4 2 2 0
5 2 3 0
6 2 3 1

A fully promoted spirit power carries 2 base attributes, 3 gem holes, and 1 enhance slot.

Spirit qualities and promotion

Spirits come in five quality tiers, separate from the promotion tiers above. You grow a spirit’s slot count by feeding it another spirit of the same quality and slot count — the material is consumed, the spirit you’re growing gains a slot, and its own quality doesn’t change. A lower-quality material still works, just at a reduced success rate. Higher-quality spirits themselves only come from drops and crafting — never from combining lower-quality ones together.

What a “hole” is

A hole is a socket whose stat is rolled from a pool when you slot it, covering the same offensive and defensive stats you see everywhere else in the game. Tier 5 is the first promotion tier to carry all three holes; tier 6 adds the single enhance slot on top.

Realm Bonus

Beyond what each spirit does on its own, the game adds up how many slots belong to spirits of the same quality across the three you have equipped. Cross 6, 12, or 18 slots of one quality — 18 is the ceiling, since three fully-promoted spirits cap at 6 slots each — and that character gains a flat Damage and Damage Reduction bonus, scaling up to +7.5% / +7.5% at the top quality with all 18 slots filled. Only the highest threshold you’ve crossed applies — it’s the best bracket you qualify for, not a stack of every bracket below it.

Where the materials come from

Spirit Realm materials drop primarily from Double Clash. The higher a Double Clash difficulty you can clear at full stars, the faster you promote your spirits — Spirit Realm and Double Clash unlock together at Account Lv.13 for exactly that reason; they’re a paired progression loop.

Spirit Realm vs. Collectibles

These two systems sit next to each other in the menu and aren’t the same thing. Spirit Realm is the spirit-board system on this page. Collectibles is a separate system of account-wide bonuses you unlock and toggle on. You progress both in parallel, not one before the other.
