Energy Operation: Is It Worth Paying?

Energy Operation hands out Energy through tasks and a free pack. Here's how far that goes without spending, and what the paid Energy packs really cost.
Energy Operation is a one-week event built around DIO, running from August 20 to August 27. Clear tasks to earn Energy, then spend that Energy in a five-tier shop that unlocks progressively better rewards, capped off by a badge blueprint chest at the top tier. Here’s what the free track actually gets you, and whether the paid Energy packs are worth buying.
What the free track gives you
Seven of the eight tasks under the event’s Source d’Énergie tab reset every day: log in, clear your 10 guild quests, finish 3 commissions, collect Breach Operation rewards 5 times, beat a World Boss once, and clear the team Breach Operation and Team Quest once each. Together those hand out 270 Energy
every single day the event runs. The eighth task is a one-time counter that stays at 500 Energy no matter how many days you play, and the very first entry in the Pack d’Énergie tab is a genuinely free claim worth another 50 Energy, plus 50 Astrogems
.
Over the full 7 days, that’s 270 × 7 from the dailies, plus the 500 one-time task, plus the 50 free pack: 2,440 Energy, all obtainable without spending anything.
This Energy only exists for the event: you earn it from the Source d’Énergie tasks above, and it’s only spendable in this Energy Store. It has nothing to do with the Energy gauge that charges a character’s Ultimate in battle, those are two different things that just share a name.
What that unlocks in the shop
The shop has five tiers. Tier 1 needs 300 Energy to clear, and its three items, a random Spirit Power
, some Refined Iron
, and a Collection Intel I
, are each priced at exactly 300 Energy, so a single purchase both buys the item and clears the tier. With 2,440 free Energy in hand, that’s enough to clear Tier 1, Tier 2 (500 Energy), and Tier 3 (700 Energy) in full, with 940 Energy left over, just 60 short of unlocking Tier 4 too.
The higher tiers ask for more with each step: 500, 700, and 1,000 Energy to clear, going by how Tier 1 scales exactly to its own item price. The game doesn’t show the exact requirement for a tier you haven’t reached yet, so treat those three numbers as a close estimate rather than a guarantee.
The badge chest at Tier 5
Tier 5 is where the standout item sits: a badge blueprint chest
, letting you pick which badge plan you want, up to 4 times. It’s not a finished badge. It’s a blueprint, and crafting the actual badge still costs the usual forge materials on top of it.
Reaching Tier 5 and buying one blueprint chest costs roughly 4,900 Energy in total. After the 2,440 free Energy, that leaves about 2,460 Energy left to buy, and the Energy packs range from small (100 Energy for 1.09 euros) to the biggest bundle (5,000 Energy for 99.99 euros). Picking the best-value packs instead of the biggest one, closing that gap runs to around 28 euros, for a single blueprint you’d still need to gather more materials to actually turn into a badge. Going for all 4 available blueprints instead runs to around 190 euros.
What I’d pick at each tier
Each tier’s 3 items are capped at a purchase limit, so you’re choosing between them, not clearing the whole row. Here’s my pick order if you’re only going far enough to stay free:
- Tier 1: the Random Spirit Power
. - Tier 2: Spirit Power I
again. - Tier 3: Spirit Power I once more, or swap it for Collection Intel III
if you’d rather stock up on collection material instead. - Tier 4: the Rawstone
. - Tier 5: all three are genuinely good here, but if I had to grab one first it’s the badge blueprint chest.
My take: solid, not exceptional
Energy Operation is ok-tier for me, not a standout. The free track earns real value on its own: play the dailies for the full week and 2,440 Energy clears Tiers 1 through 3 with Energy to spare. If you want the badge blueprint chest too, around 28 euros to close the gap isn’t a bad price for it, just remember it’s a blueprint, not a finished badge, you’ll still need to gather crafting materials afterward.
Nothing about this event is a must-play, but nothing about it is a ripoff either. Do the dailies if you’re logging in anyway, and decide on the badge once you’ve seen how far the free track actually gets you.
