Star Rank Costs

Star Rank Costs

Exactly how many duplicates each star of a character costs, and which skill unlocks at ★2, ★3, and ★5.

Every character starts at ★1 the moment you pull them, no Shards spent. Star rank then runs up to ★6. Raising it spends that character’s own Shards, the same Shards you get from pulling a duplicate of them. Each duplicate is worth 60 Shards, and both the Shard cost and the 60-per-duplicate rate are identical for every character, SSR, SR, or R alike.

Shards needed per star

Star Shards for this star Total shards Duplicates so far
★1 free (just pull them) 0 0
★2 60 60 1
★3 90 150 3
★4 120 270 5
★5 150 420 7
★6 180 600 10

Each star past ★1 is 3 paid steps rather than one lump payment; ★6’s are the biggest of the five, 50 Shards, then 60, then 70.

Shards bank up as you pull duplicates, so the “duplicates so far” column is the earliest point you could have enough. It rounds up to the next whole duplicate wherever a star’s total doesn’t land on an exact multiple of 60. In practice: your first duplicate takes you straight to ★2, and every star after that needs a couple more.

Taking a character all the way from ★1 to ★6 costs 600 Shards in total, or 10 duplicate pulls.

What Star rank actually unlocks

Every character starts with 2 active skills at ★1, their Basic Attack and their Ultimate, before you spend a single Shard. From there, Star rank brings the rest of the kit online in order: a 3rd skill, then a 4th, then the 5th and final one, alongside flat HP/Attack/Defense growth at every step. The last star also tops off the whole investment with a flat +10% to HP, Attack, and Defense on top of everything else.

Not every star opens a new skill: some steps are pure stat checkpoints on the way to the next one. ★6 is the real finish line either way, since that’s where the kit is fully online and the 10% bonus lands.

It doesn’t depend on rarity

The 600-Shard total and the 60-Shard duplicate rate are the same table for every character. What differs is how reliably you can target a specific one. SR and R duplicates pile up naturally from ordinary pulling. Most SSRs come down to luck, with one major exception: the permanent Standard Character pool lets you outright pick your SSR at 180 and 300 cumulative pulls, from a fixed list of ten characters. For those ten, Star rank is entirely plannable rather than a matter of luck. See Who to Pick with the SSR Selector for exactly who’s on that list and which of them are worth targeting first.
